Tottenham has checked out a 22-man team in the Champions League group stage.
Mathys Tel is one of six players who were excluded from Tottenham’s Champions League team in the first half of the 2025/26 season.
The club had to submit a 25-man team to UEFA for the league phase by 11pm on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Tottenham has previously faced challenges with European teams due to rules that differ from those in the Premier League. The problem lies in the lack of club-trained players and the over the four association-trained players needed and the 17 permitted non-home players.
This will force previous managers to exclude players from European teams. Things have deteriorated this season, with a total of six players being dropped by Thomas Frank in the league stage.

The remaining players are Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Tel. This summer, he spent the second half of last season on loan, and he joined Spurs on a permanent £30 million deal. Madison is expected to miss most of the season with an ACL injury, but Crucevsky is currently on the sidelines.
Unfortunately, Tottenham is not in a position to name a complete 25-man team in the Champions League due to a lack of trained players at the club. Brandon Austin is the only player in that category, leaving three spots unfilled, Football London reports.
This puts them in a difficult situation where they can only name a team of 22 people instead of the usual 25.
You can submit a revised team list in the Knockout Round, allowing up to three changes for the remaining matches of the tournament. In the Europa League last season, DJED SPENCE was added to the Tottenham team for the knockout phase after being left to the first part of the competition.
In this season’s Champions League, the Spurs are set to face Villarreal and Bodeau/Grimt as Monaco, FC Copenhagen, PSG, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund and Eintra Hat Frankfurt. This is the Tottenham team in the league phase.

Defenders: Kevin Danso, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Ben Davies, Micky Van de Ven.
Midfielders: Joao Parghina, Zabi Simons, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergval, Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson, Wilson O’Dobert, Pipe Matal Saar, Rodrigo Bentancourt.
Strikers: Richarrison, Dominique Solanke, Randall Koro Muani.
