Manchester United spent more than £200 million on their summer signatures, while Bournemouth star Antoine Semeño was the one who escaped. United head coach Reuben Amorim met with Ghana International, but it is only insisted that Semeño agree to a new deal at Vitality Stadium.

“I’ve grown so much on and off the pitch with the club. I’m really happy I signed it before I returned to the preseason,” Semeño told club media after signing an extension until 2030.

Newcastle and Tottenham were both tied to the 25-year-old, but he chilled his interest after agreeing to his new contract. However, according to the Transfers Podcast, United have been interested in the spring and pushed hard for the move.

Reuben Amorim has been reported to have met Semenyo for dinner in London at the end of last season, and will judge the player’s characters. CEO Omar Berrada and transfer chief Jason Wilcox also had conversations with Bournemouth and former Bristol City Star, but to no avail.

United are ready to kick out £55 million at Cemenyo and have evaluated the quality of their proven Premier League. However, the players themselves are said to have committed their future to Bournemouth after they planned to pay less than what United offered to other targets.

These targets, Brian Mbeumo and Matthew Cunha, both joined United for over £60 million. Cameroon International Mbeumo has already won his new club mark and scored in a 3-2 league victory over Burnley, but Cunha was injured in the same match.

Semeño maintained a good shape for Bournemouth after scoring his career-high 11 league goals the previous year and earning 13 in all competitions. He scored both goals for Cherry, facing Liverpool over the opening weekend of the season, setting the winner for Marcus Tavernier in a victory over the wolf.

He played United last season as Bournemouth won at Old Trafford and recognized the last minute equalizer on the reverse fixture. The two teams will not meet until December this season.

Bournemouth’s ability to stick to Cemenyo was important in light of many famous summer exits. Three members of the back four completed the exit for big money last season, Milos Kerquez joins Liverpool, Illa Zabarini moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Dean Huysen dreams for Real Madrid.

Cherry also joined Brentford for around £42 million, with Philip Billing and Mark Travers joining for the move forward between Fringe players and cashing in Dango Watara. Andoni Iraora’s side also spent a big time in the summer, with defender Baford Diakite becoming the second most expensive signature in their history, picking up Jorge Petrovic and Ben Ganon Doak from other Premier League clubs.
