Mark Guech returned to training with England within 48 hours when the move to Liverpool was proposed. The Crystal Palace captain appeared at high speed towards England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, introducing the characters despite their disappointment in the transfer market.
Guehi was receiving medical care in Liverpool following the agreement on a £35 million contract. However, the transfer collapsed when the palace failed to secure sufficient defensive reinforcement, putting him in danger of losing Guehi when his contract was gone next summer. England manager Thomas Tuschel handed the entire team on Monday for deadline dates, admitting that many players are obsessed with potential transfers.
Tuchel said: “This is one of the reasons we called players on Tuesday, so don’t have all these mixed emotions.
“We didn’t want to go longer that week either, we wanted to streamline it for Saturday’s game and start training on Tuesday afternoon.
“But part of the decision was also to give them the issues of their transfer and the freedom to organize the transfer subjects that come in their path.
“So of course we’re interested. We need to know where we have to drive on the weekend.”
The team reported their mission on Tuesday, and now spends the rest of the week preparing for the doubleheader for the World Cup qualifiers. A key part of Tuchel’s World Cup plan, Guehi is scheduled to appear next Tuesday with Andorra on Saturday’s upcoming match against him at Villa Park.
All 25 English players attended training at St. George’s Park, and under-20 duo Law McCabe and Zach Abbott were elevated to train in high-end teams. The three lions are at the top of Group K after three wins in three times, but Tuchel demands a significantly improved performance from a boring 1-0 away victory to Andorra in the final qualifying round.
