Manchester United could be lined up in the busy 24 hours of transfers, but they’re making one of their deals affordable with more than one day of windows
Manchester United have confirmed the exit on the loan for Young Forward Ethan Williams. The teenager signed a new contract at Old Trafford, extending his contract until 2028 before completing his move to Falkirk during the season.
Williams took part in United’s preseason tour and scored in a friendly 4-1 victory over Bournemouth. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Cheltenham, earning the net twice, but now faces a year on Scotland’s top flight.
“We’re so happy to bring Ethan Williams to Falkirk,” said John McGlyn, manager of the Scotland club. He confirmed that former United centre back Johnny Evans was involved in the move as he played a new role at Old Trafford since his summer retirement.
“He is a young player of real quality developed at one of the best academies in Manchester United’s world, and he has the opportunity to take the next step in his career with us,” added McGlynn. “Ethan is quick, direct and has a focus on his goals, and he has the qualities that add a different dimension to the plays we attack and feel that will excite our supporters.
“Ethan was a player we’ve been looking at for a while and was chasing this contract before the windows opened. It’s been a long way to go to Falkirk with lots of twists and winding along the way, but we always felt it was worth the effort.”

He joins the United Star’s growth list to complete a loan move away from Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford spends his season at Barcelona, spending his time at West Brom with Toby Collier and Northampton’s Ethan Wheatley.
“Last term, he managed to get along with Cheltenham Town in League 2 and scored his first goal in senior football,” United said in a statement about Williams after the loan was announced. “After the deal with the Bairns is over, he will be waiting for him north of the border.”
There are still some deals left. Among them is another loan that is on the verge of swapping Napoli and Manchester with a permanent switch in sight next summer, with Alejandro Garnacho now making a permanent move from United to Chelsea.
United are also still working to close the deal to help Antony return to the real Betis. The team is a little far away in financial terms regarding the potential payments to Brazilians to make up for the decline in wages.
“There was no agreement and we have withdrawn the offer of transfer because Real Betis cannot afford the transfer fees and the amount Manchester United has to pay (instead) the player before transfer,” the Spanish club said in a statement Friday. The Winger thrived on the club last season, but it’s a permanent move – at a price of around £21.6 million – now it’s on balance.
