Liverpool amulet Mohamed Sarah confessed that he is still accommodating to playing with his new teammate Hugo Ekitique. The Egyptian forward is part of the improved Reds frontline featuring Ekitique and Florian Wiltz, and Alexander Isaac is also taking part in the fun after this international break. Merseyside Club fired around £450 million during the summer transfer, with Isak, Wirtz and Ekitike being the most expensive acquisitions.
They filled the void left by Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunes, who set out to the same window, and Diogo Jota, who was tragically killed in a car accident. Despite three consecutive Premier League victories against Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal and a promising start in his first two league matches, the overall team performance is less than great. The first two fixtures required a slow target, and an epic Dominique Sobosrai free kick was required to secure a victory over Arsenal.
Sarah finds the back of the net against Bournemouth and sets up a last-minute winner for Ling Moha at St. James Park, but he admits he hasn’t walked yet. Talking about the guys on the Blazers podcast, he admitted it takes time to gel with Ekitike and the other teams.
“So far, I haven’t understood the connection yet,” admitted Sarah. “Like Darwin or Lucho, or the person they were playing in front of, or Diogo. I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well, but Hugo and he are still new.
“Sometimes we need the ball on the field, and sometimes we need it in space. We try to understand it like in training sessions or videos. Our managers show us.
In addition to the £125 million Isak, £116 million Wirtz and £69 million Ekitike, Salah is also introducing the 17-year-old talent Ngumoha.
The youngster showed his calm by strokes Sarah’s delivery to win a 3-2 victory over Newcastle, and he boasts an excellent guide to the Egyptian icon.
“So, what is the future awaiting him? It depends on how he deals with the situation,” Sarah said of Nugumoha. “How do we work? I have to work hard and just stay humble because he’s so young. I told him that if some players are too early, they’ll struggle afterwards.
“I wish him the best. He has a good group (around him) and we always try to talk to him. The manager (Arne slot) also talks to him.
