Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is ready to hold acquisition talks with John Text, former Crystal Palace co-owner, who is trying to save the championship side
Sheffield’s owner Dejphon Chansiri is scheduled to have an open takeover talk on the side of the Stricken Championship when American businessman John Textor comes to the table.
The former Crystal Palace co-owner is considering purchasing the owl, and he recently contacted a representative for Changshilli ahead of his meeting in the UK next week, the Guardian reports. Sheffield’s current asking price on Wednesday is around £100 million.
It is still unknown if the text will evaluate it when the two parties prepare to sit. Chansiri said he held meetings with several potential buyers this summer and rejected an offer of £40 million from an unknown American consortium in June.
The text, which also owns Lyon on the French side, was involved in the UEFA fiasco in which the palace was driven out of the Europa League. He then sold his share to Woody Johnson, but was keen to quickly reinvest in the English side.
Americans are understood to view Sheffield’s outfit as an attractive proposition as they are trying to revive the historic club. The text consulted soccer financier Keith Harris around Wednesday following the history of acquisitions at West Ham, Manchester City and Aston Villa.
