Roma was about to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer, but they are now focusing on a deal with 19-year-old Chelsea starlet Tyrique George
Rome reportedly ended Jadon Sancho’s pursuit, with the Serie A club instead focusing on a contract with Tyrique George. Sancho is part of Manchester United’s four-man bomb squadron, frozen by Reuben Amorim.
Sancho is hoping to sell the winger before the transfer window closes as it is likely that Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund will leave last season.
However, according to a report from Italian outlet Lagazzettadello Sports, interest in Rome’s Sancho is waning. Rome was desperate to strengthen widely this summer, and Sancho was their best target.
Rome is said to have agreed to a deal with United to sign a loan with a £20 million purchase option, and the club has set a deadline for Sancho to decide whether he wants to join. However, his wages have proven to be a problem, and the report says he has not responded.
As a result, Roma switched his focus to Sancho’s teammate Chelsea Starlet George last season. The 19-year-old was impressed with his limited appearances, where Bruce and Rome manager Jean Piero Gaspelini believe they can “turn him into a new star.”

The report says the move will be permanent rather than a loan, as George’s wages demand “a much more affordable than Sancho’s.”
It is also argued that Chelsea wants to include a clause that would likely be deposited 30% of what Rome sells George in the bank. Interestingly, Sancho had previously welcomed George, claiming that the teenager “has the world at his feet.”
In a social media post after George started his first Chelsea in the conference league last season, Sancho wrote:
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill previously branded George as a “surprising” talent. After George scored his first Premier League goal, Colwill said:
“And I hope he comes and the score gives him a bit of confidence and hopefully he keeps pushing and he gets on our side, because he’s a great player, he’s not on the bench.
