Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim refused to elect an individual in the second round of the Carabao Cup after a humble defeat of Wednesday night
Reuben Amorim refused to point his finger of responsibility at Andre Onana following another performance that fell short of a Manchester United goalkeeper in the chastity defeat in the town of Grimsby.
The Red Devils went 2-0 at Brandel Park on Wednesday night against League 2 opposition in the second round of the Carabao Cup. And United came together through the goals of Brian Mbeumo and Harry Maguire, which seemed to save the game at normal times, but they continued to lose penalty in one of the biggest cup shocks in recent memory.
It was another night for Onana, who started this season for the first time, to forget. No one was caught up in the man’s land to effectively give Tyrell Warren the Mariners’ second goal before he was beaten at a post near him for Grimsby’s opener.
Cameroon International’s position has long been scrutinized after United’s No. 1 after a series of poor displays. It remains to be seen whether he will remain as the team’s first choice keeper. However, Amorim refused to twist the knife after being asked about the post-match on the onana.

“When you play against a team in the fourth division, it’s all, not the goalkeeper,” Amorim was furious. “It’s the environment. It’s the way we face competition. Everything. With today’s performance, my players spoke really loudly for me.”
Crestfallen Amorim did not offer any excuses to the rest of the embarrassing players after the match.
“I know the best team, the only team on the pitch, won,” Amorim said inexplicably. “I think the team and the players spoke really loudly today. That’s it. We lost. The best team won. I think what happened today was really clear to everyone.
“It’s not just the space (we gave them), but the way we started the game without strength – we were completely lost. And that’s what I think they really spoke about. I think they gave the response on the pitch today.
