Crystal Palace is ready to win cash from Captain Mark Guech, and Liverpool is preparing a bid before the summer transfer window closes on Monday evening
Crystal Palace prepares for life without Mark Guech by scrutinizing the transfer market for captain’s replacement. Guehi is entering the final year of his palace contract and the club knows they have to get cash now and risk losing him in a year.
Liverpool held discussions to sign England International on August 12th and remains enthusiastic about the 26-year-old centre-back. Guehi is understood to be open to joining the Defensive Premier League champions who want to add depth beyond Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
The Palace cites £45 million for the Star Defender, and Liverpool will not exceed £35 million. However, they are expected to gather the pace again after the Palace’s Conference League playoffs with Fredrikstad on Thursday night.
Palace manager Oliver Grasner said the club must maintain Guech as there are no options, at least until that match, but Chairman Steve Parish knows he is accepting sales. The South London Club is preparing Guehi’s exit by lining up potential alternatives.

According to the Guardian, they registered interest in Manuel Akanji in Manchester City earlier this week, lending Monaco Salis to Monaco. Neither is guaranteed. There is no competition from Bayer Lebarkusen of Akanji and Galatasaray and Salis’ Olympiacos.
The palace is also linked to Jeremy Jasette of Rennes and Jadee Canbot of Toulouse, while Acandi represents the most experienced choice. The 30-year-old Swiss International remained in his city contract for two years, and the palace was reportedly ready to provide £15 million for his services.
Eberechi Eze is joining Arsenal for £67.5 million, and Palace has yet to find an alternative to the creative midfielder. Yeremy Pino will join the club from Villarreal after a deal worth up to £26 million has been agreed. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson and Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis are other targets after Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester’s breakdown.
There is acceptance that Guehi will need to be replaced soon. After last week’s 1-0 victory over Fredrikstad, Parrish told Channel 5:
Liverpool has already signed defender Giovanni Leoni from Palma for £26 million, but Van Dik and Conate’s sole backup Joe Gomez wants to make further reinforcements in the back. Conate’s performance raised eyebrows in the opening three games of the season, highlighting the importance of landing Guehi.
The summer transfer window will be closed on Monday evening for business. This means Guehi can play the last two games for the Palace against Fredrikstad on Thursday and Aston Villa on Sunday.
