The world champion huffed and breathed in the controversial first half at Stamford Bridge, but eventually found a breakthrough on the brink of halftime.
Tensions proved the final 45-minute action, but the hostilities continued from the pitch as Fernandez stood up to fitness coach Marcos Alvarez. Argentina was seen offering the captain’s armband to its coaches, and midfielder Andre Santos also saw a warm-up at the time.
