Coby Mine wants to leave Manchester United before the transfer window closes, but Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand hopes the midfielder will stay at Old Trafford
Rio Ferdinand urged Cobbie Mine to stay at Manchester United after it was revealed that the midfielder had told the club he wanted to leave. Miller Football understands that Napoli is ready to sign Mineu and that he is keen on the move.
However, United have kept in mind the success of Scott McTominai after joining Napoli last summer, and Scotland International helped them win the Baron de or nomination for a while.
Mainoo believes that the move to Napoli could have the same effect on his career, but United have been blocking his exit so far. And Ferdinand hopes that Mine stays and fights for his place at Old Trafford.
In response to the news, Ferdinand said: “I don’t want to hear that. Cobby, if you’re watching, don’t ask me it, man, I need you to stay in the club. Be patient, I know it’s difficult.
“After his exploitation with the UK where we sat here, we couldn’t wager the money: ‘Cobbie Minee can’t join the men’s United team, they want to sell him, they want to go.’ ”

Mainoo is an unused replacement for United’s opening Premier League matches, with manager Reuben Amorim saying the 20-year-old is competing for the team’s spot with club captain Bruno Fernandez.
“Minee is fighting for his position with Bruno,” Amorim said after a 1-1 draw with United’s Fulham. “I changed two midfielders. I wanted to score a goal so I left Mason Mount. When it changed, I felt the team had hugged the midfielder. So he needs to fight for his position with Bruno.
Mainoo made the first start of the season when he lost to League 2 side Grimsby in the humiliating Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but struggled to make many impacts. And if he was to stay at United, Ferdinand urged Mine to make sure he was ready to make the most of the opportunities he could have.
“We all had these moments in your career that you like. Well, the first thing you do is go to the manager and say, ‘What are you not doing to join this team?” he’s going to tell me.
“I go to work every day. I play against Bruno (Fernandez) and I start to control them, exactly the type of mentality and mindset he has to go with.
“Now, his argument is that I don’t have the opportunity to take it now. It’s a fair argument. But what I say is that I’m not ready to give him a chance.
