Athletic’s football correspondent joined TNT Sports and while he believes Amorim’s work is not under immediate threat, he emphasized the importance of victory over Claretto to ease the ongoing crisis.
Ornstein explained that he wants to give Amorim the opportunity that could potentially turn things around, along with the recent large manager sales of United and his investment in Amorim.

“I don’t think they’ve had those conversations yet. It’s early in the season, they want him to succeed, they’ve made a new sign, they want to give it time. I don’t see the world where he leaves that job and that contract.
“They want to win today, and it calms things down and throws situations. But if they lose, they become a world of pain. It’s Manchester United and in the end this is the outcome industry and we know how it works.
“We’ve now made so many administrative changes, they’re probably looking for a real reason for this, and with the amount invested in him and his squad by the managers and ownership of Manchester United, they’ll want to continue for him for him.”
Ornstein on Mainoo and Goalkeeper Search
Ornstein also assessed Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at the club.
Amorim publicly expresses his desire to stay 20 at a pre-game press conference, and Ornstein says his departure from Old Trafford is unlikely as things stand.
“Kobbie Mainoo has no doubts about that,” he added.
“Manchester United are not sanctioning him for leaving, and we will never know what a big transfer offer will come.
“It’s very difficult and there are a lot of clubs that I want to sign up for Cobby Mine. But at this point he’s not going anywhere. Can they bring in a midfielder? We’ll lend it out before the deadline.

The goalkeeping position also sparked much debate, and Andre Onana’s future has become increasingly questionable.
Altay Bayindir plays in two Premier League matches for United, but has had little impact on his confidence in his performance between the sticks.
Looking back at the goalkeeper situation, Ornstein explained:
“They have problems there. Can they move to Andre Onana? It doesn’t look like that. Altey Bay Indeal? Maybe they should look before the deadline.
“And it changes (the players they don’t want) with Antony, Rasmus Hozilund, Malacia and others, and see if they can balance the book.”
