Newcastle United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made it clear that Jollington and Sandro Tonari are questioning the Premier League clash on his part with Leeds United.

The defeat left Howe’s side in 15th place on the table with one point after two games.

The English manager confirmed that their injuries were not long-term, but admitted that he didn’t know if they would be featured well on Saturday’s kickoff.

“Relatively good news for both players,” he said at a pre-game press conference.

“When they left the pitch (against Liverpool), we feared they would be in the long term because they didn’t look good on either side, but Jollington’s scan was relatively good.

“He will miss this weekend, but it could be available on the other side of the international break.

“Like Tonari, I don’t think his injuries are serious. He’s fighting for what he deserves tomorrow, but I don’t know if he’ll make it or not.

“But we thought we would lose them longer, so it’s a really positive sign.”

Chelsea

Enzo Maresca says Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiasir are not ready to return after an international break.

Lavia suffers from a hamstring injury, but Badiashile picks up a knock in a FIFA Club World Cup clash with Benfica.

“Cole we need to see every day,” Maresca said.

“Romeo and Benoit – I don’t think they’ll come back after an international break, but they’ll be closer.

“Two years ago, he (LAVIA) didn’t play games. Last year he played some games. The target is to give him more games this season. I don’t know (when he’s coming back).”

Liverpool

Conor Bradley and Alexis McAlistair returned to training ahead of Liverpool’s game against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

Bradley made a short cameo off the bench in his Newcastle victory on Monday after recovering from a hamstring injury, but now appears ready to play a more important role on Arne Slot’s side.

The Mac Allister was not on the team for a trip to St. James Park, but Arne Slot says both players have repaired it.

“Connor Bradley has been trained all week,” he said.

“(Alexis) Mac Allister has also started training again.

“I don’t think (after Newcastle)/Virgil (Van Dyke) was injured either. That’s the main thing.”

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta gave Arsenal fans an update on Bukayosaka and Martin Odegard’s fitness prior to his trip to Liverpool.

Both players were injured during the team’s victory over Leeds last weekend, but now it appears they’ve been out for a while.

He confirmed that both players appear to be set to miss the match at Anfield, but that neither injury was too serious.

The Spaniards also revealed that Christian Norgaard, Ben White and Leandro Torosad could miss Sunday’s fixture.

“Bukayo is getting better, but he’ll be out for a few weeks,” he said.

“It’s not as bad as the one before, but it’s very unhappy. It was an action that required full strength from him, and he had to change direction and he felt something.

“Martin Odegard hasn’t been trained yet. If so, it’ll be tomorrow. He’s doing everything he can to make himself available.”

TNT Sports and Discovery+ includes the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League and more
