There was tension between the clubs after the clubs faced off indirectly in the Europa League this season.
Crystal Palace is facing a Football Association investigation after fans raised a graphic banner about Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.
Both clubs were indirectly positioned straight in the Europa League this season, and there was tension between clubs after the forest decided earlier this month to enter the UEFA tier 2 competition at the expense of a palace.
A home-hot atmosphere was expected for supporters of this fixture and palace at Holmesdale End. With the Marinakis flag raised, it depicted a Greek businessman holding a gun on the head of Morgan Gibbs White’s captain. It is understood that the FA will investigate the case.
The Palace won its place in the Europa League in a Shock FA Cup victory over Manchester City in May, but was later removed from the competition due to former co-owner John Text, who has taken Lyon’s dominant interest.
UEFA’s decision that the text retained dominant interest in two clubs in the Europa League only occurred after the depicted story.

Forest was first in the Premier League to lining up to benefit from the palace exclusion after finishing seventh in the Premier League and competing in the Conference League.
After the palace was demoted to the UEFA tier 3 competition, they appealed to the sports arbitration court, but were unable to overturn the decision and were entrusted to conference league football, but Forest received a last-minute promotion to the Europa League.
The scene was set for the fiery opportunity when Forest traveled to South London on Sunday, and palace fans made their feelings clear despite Marinakis not attending the Selhurst Park fixture.
Banner showed Marina Kiss on Gibbs White’s head with a gun after the forest captain made a U-turn earlier this summer and seemed ready to leave to join Tottenham just to agree to a new contract at the Midlands Club.
Many allegations have also been written in banners that forest owners have always strongly denied.
The FA has investigated the issue in the law, saying supporters cannot display “provocative, negative or inflammatory” messages.
