Manchester United supporters are calling for the fire of Reuben Amorim following the shocking Carabao Cup exit. The Red Devils were knocked out of the tournament Wednesday after experiencing a surprising defeat to League 2 Grimsbytown.
Charles Burnham and Tyrell Warren scored first half goals, with summer buyout Brian Mbeumo reducing the deficit with 15 minutes remaining. Harry Maguire then levelled the moment he remained on the clock and the problems of Amorim’s subordinates.
However, United ultimately succumbed to losing through a penalty. Summer signatures Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo did not convert during the marathon shootout. This loss exacerbated the start of their overwhelming campaign, failing to secure a victory in either of the first two Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham.
Supporters took him to social media throughout the game and demanded removal from Amorim’s position. One fan declared, “To the town of Grimsby? Prepare a letter in Amorim’s bags. A useless club.”
Another commented: “I still plunder Amorim, I have to become Chelsea like ruthless,” fellow supporters added:
“Everyone knows that Reuben Amorim will eventually be fired, why will it be extended,” posted by an even more enraged Red Devils follower.
“He’s ignorant. This is a lootable attack. If you’re a really big club, then if you plunder him at this point, the interim manager would be better in the short term. This is literally a rock bottom!” a final fan added: “I mentally checked out from Man United. So this score doesn’t affect me a bit. I bagged Amorim tonight.”
It seems highly doubtful that United will be x Amorim in the near future. The Red Devils boss blew around £9.2 million to secure a Portuguese manager from Sports Lisbon, but wrote the terms that were executed until 2027.
United also supports Amorim and witnessed a fork of over £200 million over the summer costs. This is an expense that includes a major overhaul of the club’s offensive options.
But so far they have endured the challenges that the campaign succumbed to a narrow loss against Arsenal over the opening weekend. They were then annoyed by Fulham at Craven Cottage’s 1-1 stalemate.
United definitely wants to claim this season’s victory, hosting Burnley, who has promoted the Maiden Premier League victory this season at Old Trafford.
