Former Premier League star hits hole-in-one after chipping for the PGA Tour | Golf | Sports

Former Premier League star Jimmy Bullard backed up his belief that hitting an impressive hole-in-one could create the beliefs of golf legend Colin Montgomery as a PGA pro. The 46-year-old recently took on a tough challenge that he was not allowed to leave the golf course until he hit a hole-in-one.

Bullard filmed where he filmed the popular Golf Life YouTube show, along with former soccer star Peter “Tube” Dale and his brother Andrew. The former Wigan athletic player frequently displays his skills on the channel and earns praise from every corner of the game. Bullard had to withdraw from the open qualifying event in 2024 due to back issues, showing a high level of his golfing ability. After a few attempts, Bullard managed an extraordinary shot, leading to a celebration of joy from the trio when the ball gently fell into the hole.

With a record of 42 wins over his name and five Ryder Cup victory, Montgomery is a good fit to assess Bullard’s golf talent. Montgomery, 62, will compete in the Champions Tour, previously known as the Senior PGA Tour.

Bullard’s love for the sport and the obvious skill of the golf club once suggested that Montgomery could succeed in the PGA Tour, particularly on the senior circuit.

Montgomery was quized on whether he could compete with a veteran golfer in a few years, given his rival turning 47 this year. Speaking about the Golf Life YouTube channel, the Scottish legend said, “That’s a good question.”

He continued: “There’s little need to work on. You have great hands. You have good speed. When you talk about the speed of the head of a club at 111, 112 miles, that is from the PGA Tour.

“So you have speed. You have length. You know how to compete. You’re important. You want to compete. You want to challenge, you want to challenge, you know, what is it? You want to challenge. You’re enough to compete.

“I was very impressed with everything. The putting and strokes are amazing. What you have in your hand… the educated hand we call it in our game. I want you to how many years, what do you say, 47? Give it a bash.

“It’s great to see viewers compete with things like Darren Clarke or (Miguel Angel) Jimenez, Arnie Els or (Steve) Stricker’s (Fred) couple.

“Now, imagine a shot of Tiger’s fit and fantasy playing…and the results of the draw pop up. Jimmy Bullard, Tiger Woods! Imagine a TV rating… I’m telling you, you’re already enough to compete with the legends of the Champions Tour.

Another golf icon, Lee Westwood, also threw his support behind Bullard in February this year. He said: “I told Jimmy, I think he’s about to turn 50, but if he puts his mind on it, he could probably turn professionals for his seniors in Europe and compete on the Legend Tour.

Between 2014 and 2016, Bullard made five appearances on the now-deprecated Europro Tour, achieving the best results with a 22nd tie.

He then returned to professional golf last year, taking part in a single round tournament on the Clutch Pro Tour, securing his 30th place among more than 100 competitors.
