The former head of the International Crime Investigation Division reportedly made extraordinary claims about the game corrections in the Premier League. Fredrik Gardare, who previously served as a Swedish police force investigating organized crime in sports, is said to believe that critical evidence is being ignored by British authorities.
The bombs are threatening to rock the domestic game and leave questions to the FA. According to the Daily Mail, they have not yet received evidence from a Swedish police investigation, but have confirmed that they want to evaluate it. Gardare has already revealed Manchester City product Dickson Etuhu, who is one former Premier League star.
The Nigerian midfielder, who played for top flights in both Sunderland and Fulham, was found guilty in 2019 for modifying a Swedish football match. The 43-year-old was banned for five years from the game the following year.
That wasn’t the end of Gardare’s investigation. In 2021, he allowed an illegal casino attack and multiple mobile phones were seized. One phone is said to have evidence of a match correction across Europe, and Ghadare claims that many Premier League players are involved
Swedish police authorities have chosen not to proceed further with the investigation. The result left Ghadare confused, and he is now being asked to act by the English FA.
“It was a very priority from my side. I set the entire team for this investigation,” he quotes as saying. “We also provided information directly to the Swedish Football Federation and said, ‘This is serious.’
“This is important for both Swedish football and football in several countries. It’s important that England and international football stop the corrections to the ongoing matches. There were multiple Premier League players (found on the phone).
In response, Johann Cresson, Swedish FA Integrity Officer, said it was correct that in 2021, the Swedish FA had received general information from police that they had found information about match corrections at both the national and international levels following the raid on illegal casinos.
