Tottenham Hotspur reportedly asked about the potential moves of the RB Leipzig Ace Xavi Simons. Simons has linked his move away from the Bundesliga outfit all summer, and was flipped over to join the side on the UK top flight.
Chelsea appears to be the most likely destination, with reports suggesting that Bruce is moving quickly on a 22-year-old landing contract. However, the Enso Maresca men couldn’t sell as many players as they wanted. That means the door could be opened as another club swooped before the Monday deadline.
According to German builds, it could be the Spurs. Tottenham is said to have asked Leipzig about the possibility of signing Simons between the remaining windows. It may not have been Simons’ first choice, but the Spurs’ pursuit could be boosted by the fact that the playmakers revealed they were eager to move into the Premier League.
Simons is believed to have hired well-known agent Ali Barat, who is well-connected within Premier League circles, and is aiming to ensure a Premier League switch this summer. So far, that hasn’t happened and if the club takes over a promising midfielder it could have to match Leipzig’s £60.4 million asking price.
It is still not seen whether Leipzig is upset from its ratings, but getting things moving quickly may be their number one concern, especially if they want to land a preferred alternative. Harvey Elliott is being attacked as a potential target for German costumes with the suggestion that the British could still leave Liverpool.
Regardless of how things unfold from here, it was an annoying summer for Tottenham, who has come across issues in some future deals. Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White and Savinho are just a few of the targets that were heavily linked to Spurs, but all three trades failed to occur.
Frank said: “First of all, I don’t know history. Of course I’m reading a bit. I often explain stories that could have been something, but I can’t see much.
“What I can see is we work very hard, and what I know is that it’s not that easy when you want to sign players in general. You can talk about it from your experience at Brentford. I can talk about it.
