Paul Mason has been strongly associated with Arsenal after winning two league titles with the club over the decade, but he actually supported Chelsea, saying that some supporters gave him a sticking point to it
Former Arsenal star Paul Mason defended himself from fans who claimed he was not a club legend because he was a Chelsea supporter.
The 57-year-old Sky Sports Pundit is known for his passionate views at Arsenal after playing 417 times for the Gunners and winning two league titles and two domestic cups. However, Mason is actually a Chelsea fan and has supported West London costumes since he was a child.
He released a video on Twitter on Monday, revealing that he has a “stick” from an Arsenal fan who recently discovered he is a supporter of the Blues. They insisted that he was not considered a gunner’s legend.
Mason said he “never asked to become a legend,” and that he only gave the club 100% during his 10-year spell in North London.
“Hello everyone, I hope you all have a good day,” he said. “I’m just coming. I support Chelsea so I don’t know if I’m taking a lot of sticks from Arsenal fans. How will I support Chelsea?

“You don’t change your team. You don’t change your team from the age of six. I had the best time I’ve ever had with Arsenal, I absolutely loved it. Arsenal is in my heart, I’m always looking at the results of Arsenal. People say, ‘You’re not a legend now.’
“I never asked to be a legend. All I did was give absolutely everything for Arsenal, play over 400 soccer matches, score 99 goals, and I loved everything about it.”
Merson added that no one should switch football clubs after declaring loyalty as he welcomed Arsenal as the club’s “Rolls-Royce.”
“I supported Chelsea at age 6, and you haven’t changed,” he added. “You shouldn’t change. If you change clubs, that’s not right, so I hope everyone understands. Take care of everyone.”
Mason had a long and successful career, mainly in the First Division and the Premier League, leaving Arsenal in 1997 and joined Middlesbrough for two years after helping to reach the League Cup final.
He then spent five years at Aston Villa, finishing off his career at Walsall and Tamworth after putting on a brief spell with Portsmouth in the second tier. He retired in 2006 and has since become a recognizable face at the Sky Sports Show football on Saturday.
