Rasmus Hojlund has been locked up in a move away from Manchester United this summer, and Napoli has now signed the striker after Romelu Lukaku was seriously injured.
Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly closed to travel to Naples, and Manchester United is expected to suffer a major loss to the striker. Hojlund joined United from Atalanta in 2023 for a fee of around £72 million.
However, he has struggled to make many impacts at Old Trafford, managing just 26 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions. United have bolstered their offense this summer, with Hozilund being seen as a surplus of requirements by Reuben Amorim.
Hojlund has been removed from the team for United’s first two Premier League matches this season, with Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the pecking order.
A report from Sky Sports Italy also claims that Hojlund is approaching joining Napoli with a purchasing option that is mandatory if certain conditions are met. The report states that it has reached an agreement with the players and that “only few details remain to be finalized.”
The transaction is worth a total of 45 million euros (£39 million). This represents a huge loss of £333 million for the Red Devils. Napoli has been desperate to sign a new striker since Romell Lukaku picked up a thigh injury in the preseason, and has kept him out of action for months.

Hojlund hopes to be able to find some form in Italy, claiming he wants to fight for his position at Old Trafford on United’s pre-season US tour. “My plan is very clear and I think it’s about me staying and fighting for my place no matter what happens,” he said.
“I’m still very young. I think people sometimes forget that. I’m 22. Obviously not all strikers score 100 goals at 22 (like Erling Haaland).
“But I’ve learned a lot. I think you can see in my game. I’m starting to develop the basics and get better. Now, I’m just doing really well for me in the seasons so far.
“I’m just focusing on continuing it. Competition is fine for me. It sharpens me. I’m ready.
“I feel keen, so I welcome everything that comes. I think it’s good for the competition. It just sharpens the team.”
