Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon was sent to Liverpool for a speedy challenge and contacted Virgil van Dyke. England International was given a march order at the end of the first half at the end of the first half, and his team chased 1-0 in a Premier League encounter at St. James Park.

Gordon was selected before Newcastle as there was no Alexander Isaac, who refused to play for the Magpie while pursuing a move to Liverpool. However, the 24-year-old couldn’t reach the end of the first half as the home side fell to 10. And his send-off tried to overturn Newcastle’s non-vious work even more vigorously than his one-goal deficit against the reigning champion Premier League champions.

With the first half almost over, Gordon jumped in to try.

A Newcastle man caught a Vandic calf as the Dutch International landed on the ground on the mountains.

Judge Simon Hooper initially wore the challenge yellow card, but Gordon appears to be taking a quick break following a foul.

However, after a VAR review from Hooper, the referee upgraded the reservation to a red card as Gordon was forced to leave the pitch.

And explaining his decision, Hooper announced:

“The challenge is speed, and we will be clearly in touch with the calves with Liverpool No. 4. The final decision is a red card to Newcastle United No. 10.”

Hooper’s decision was supported by a former Premier League star host. Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer scored a record 260 Premier League goal, but wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

Meanwhile, former England and Manchester City captain Steph Houghton explained at the BBC’s Monday night club:

And Arsenal icon Theo Walcott added: “It’s a striker tackle, he’s taking the wrong leg.

“When speeds slow, it always looks worse, but Virgil van Dik won’t get hurt, and that’s a red card for me.”

Walcott’s former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry told Sky Sports:
