Eddie Howe had great hopes that Alexander Isaac was excelling in the Premier League when he signed him three years ago, but the impressive performance of the Swedish striker made him want to move from Newcastle. The forward has not kept his desire to leave Tyneside as Liverpool is currently leading the race for his signature.

The current Premier League champion bids £110 million at the age of 25, who was rejected a few weeks ago, and his second offer has yet to be announced. Despite this, Isaac reportedly continued training alone and vowed not to play for the club again.

Earlier this week, he broke the silence in the transfer saga and launched a ferocious attack on the club’s management over a “broken promise” in a fiery statement. In response, Newcastle insists that he “doesn’t foresee” the situation where Isaac will leave, and Howe still has hopes for a solution with the striker.

The Magpie boss took Isaac to St James Park in 2022 and was convinced that the striker would thrive in the UK in a record £63 million club deal at the time. At the time, he said:

“He has a bit of an X factor about him. Alex is slightly different and I think he can score goals. He’s technically very good and combines the qualities I really like as a forward player.”

“For such a young player, he threw a lot of experience on him, playing for the big German clubs (Borsia Dortmund), the Netherlands (Willem II) and Spain (Real Sociedad).

“The English game fits his profile. He’s a really good athlete and has a lot to do for him and his best years is ahead of him. He’s a very exciting signature for us.”

Scoring 62 goals on the club’s 109 outings, the Magpies returned to the Champions League, including providing a key strike against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in March.

However, Isaac’s relationship with the club has deteriorated significantly, and Chronicle reports that it may now be beyond repair.

Nevertheless, Howe argued this week that a resolution on the future of players would be swiftly realized ahead of his encounter with Liverpool this Monday.

Speaking to the journalist at a press conference on Friday, Hau discussed Isaac’s situation before the transfer deadline on Monday, September 1st.

The Newcastle manager said:

“And that’s finished pretty quickly and then we can focus on football again.”

Howe is preparing his team for his first home game of the Premier League season, following a goalless stalemate at Aston Villa last Saturday. Future clashes with Liverpool under floodlights promise to be a thrilling encounter.
