Nuno Espirito Santo: Marinakis ‘Picks Next Nottingham Forest Boss’ |Soccer | Sports

Evangelos Marinakis reportedly was selected as his top target in place of Nuno Espirito Santo amid concerns that Nottingham Forest head coach could leave the club. The Portuguese boss has confirmed that its relationship with forest owners has been “changed” and added fuel to the fire that can be dismissed until the second game of the Premier League season.

Forest will travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday, but a trip to Selhurst Park may be Santo’s last season in charge of the club he led to European football. The 51-year-old publicly lamented his transfer policy and admitted that he was “no fire-free smoke” in regards to proposals that could cause him to be fired.

“I’ve always had a very good relationship with the owner. Last season, we were very close and talked every day,” Nuno said earlier this week.

“I believe dialogue is always important because this season isn’t going very well (between us), but my concern is the season before us, so I believe dialogue is always important. Our relationships change and we are not that close.”

The Sun claims that Celtic boss Brendan Rogers is sought as Marinakis’ number one target to replace Nuno.

The former Leicester and Liverpool head coach have been highly praised by Greek businessmen, who has been courting Rogers behind the scenes for months.

Rogers enters the final year of his contract at Celtic Park, and the compensation figures are not considered to be a problem, and Forest is set to make their move next week.

If Celtic fails to reach the Champions League League phase, they can strengthen their position. They have qualifying against Kairat in Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is also linked to his forest work, but it is believed that he will likely return to Celtic and replace Rogers when he heads to the city’s ground. Jose Mourinho is also mentioned, but is considered very expensive to praise from Fenerbafe.

Nuno admitted that his possible x report arrived “Because something is going on,” but insisted that his only focus is that his team is preparing for future matches with Palace.

“We’ve had a great season and we know that fans are worried,” Nuno said. “When these things come out in the media, it’s because something is going on.

“But players know everything on social media. Now it’s my job to focus on the game. When the ball starts rolling, everything else ends.”
