Morekambe has finally been handed over to the Punjab Warriors on Sunday evening, with the club’s new owner already deciding to proceed with the changes in management
Morecambe has a new owner and a new manager in Ashvil Singhjohar after an eventful 48-hour period in which Panjab Warriors saved the club from extinction before they chose to make it into a certain company with former boss Derek Adams.
Ebi, who was kicked out of the EFL last season, was suspended from the National League last month after facing months of uncertainty about his long-term future due to concerns about the club’s ability to fulfill his financial obligations under former owner Jason Whittittim.
Panjab Warriors have been trying to finalise the club’s acquisition for several months after receiving approval from the EFL in June. However, Morecambe fans didn’t finally confirm that the deal was closed and approved until Sunday evening.
The next day, the new Morecambe owner made the first significant move since taking ownership of the club by making the decision to plunder Adams. And on Tuesday morning they followed suit with a quick announcement of Johar as Scott’s successor.

Joval, 30, is the youngest manager in the top five categories of the UK’s soccer pyramid. He also became the first Sikh to be in charge of a professional British Football Club.
Joval has never managed at the senior level, but it boasts an impressive CV. He became one of the youngest coaches in British football history to obtain a UEFA Pro license earlier this summer, and works as COMO’s assistant youth coach under CESC Fabregas. Joval also has EFL experience after being featured on the CoroTure coaching staff during his brief period at Wigan Athletics.
The decision to arbitrate with 50-year-old Adams on Monday has been widely criticized among Morecambe Fanbase Online. It is not uncommon for such a decision to be made after the acquisition, but Adams was praised for the way he held court during the club’s upheaval period. He has managed shrimp on two previous occasions, but at first he reached the pinnacle, leading the club to the third tier of British football for the first time in history.
The club thanked Adams for “leadership and stability” during the “test chapter” of the statement. The new owner of the club added:
“As the club enters a new era, there was a strategic leadership transition with respect and appreciation for Derek’s service.”
