Premier League Injury News: Mikel Arteta’s Kai Herberts Update, Pep Guardiola welcomes Key Manchester City Trio, Liverpool sweatshirts right back

The injury setback to Kai Havertz has clouded Arsenal’s positive start to the season with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta providing an update on Germany’s prognosis.

Arsenal will host the newly promoted Leeds United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Arteta said:

“I think we need a little more time and more testing, and then we’ll be more clear about the next step.

“I don’t want to talk about the details. He’s not appropriate. We need to explore that issue a little more and decide what we’re going to do.

“He won’t be able to play tomorrow. I want to make him fresh and available and bring what he brings to the team. Unfortunately, that’s not possible.

“Psychologically, he’s a strong boy and is very committed, so he’s in a good place. He had an incredible recovery from hamstring surgery.

“He has a set-off now. You’ll see how bad it is, but he’ll handle it in the best way possible.

Prior to that clash, Pep Guardiola confirmed that several important figures had returned to his group.

“Rodri and Phil (Foden) were out in their final game, but for that reason alone, they lacked training and rhythm. They didn’t travel to Palermo, and the others did it all throughout the preseason,” Guardiola said.

“They were 90 minutes against the wolves (not ready), but they were ready and of course they were ready for tomorrow.”

Regarding the Ballon d’Or winner, Guardiola added: “I just want a consistent Rodri.

“He is the best player in the world so far, until he selected a new player in a few months. I have no doubt. Just consistency in training, weeks, training, games and minutes will all be fine.”

Guardiola also welcomes Ederson with a decision over whether the Brazilian and James Trafford nodded to the goal.

However, the city bosses still do not have injured trio Josko Gvaldior, Mateo Kovasic and Savinjo.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot revealed that Jeremie Frimpong will be coming out until after the international break in September on Hamstring’s issue.

Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are back in fitness as well.

“We’ve only had two injuries at this point, but unfortunately they’re two in the same position,” Slot said.

“The good thing is that there are other players who can play there. Wataru (end) has been playing for a few minutes. Dominique Soboschlei is already playing there. There are other options to explore.

“Joe Gomez is definitely one of them, but he’s already quite a lot of playing 20 minutes (against Bournemouth).

“I’m not saying (Gomez) broke the set, but he couldn’t train completely consecutively with the team. This is completely normal when he was out for a long time and all of a sudden the manager needs you for 20 minutes.

“He’s training with the team, so let’s see where he’s on Monday and whether he can get involved or start with the team. But there are other options.”
