Liverpool reportedly took part in a race to sign Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton. The midfielder is said to be attracting attention from the biggest clubs in world football. The 21-year-old has excelled for the Eagles since moving to south London, and once again acted for the team on Thursday evening as Palace defeated Fredrikstad 1-0 in the UEFA Conference League playoffs.

Wharton joined the palace from Blackburn in February 2024 after appearing in the Championship. He made 46 appearances for the Eagles and helped the team score Silverwear for the first time last season as they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Now it appears his current employer is struggling to hold onto him. The club is already aiming to lose Ebebeki Eze to Arsenal, facing the fight to keep Mark Guech.

A Spanish publication that reported on interests around Wharton and appointed Liverpool as one of the clubs interested in signing him.

The surviving Premier League champions enjoy the summer transfer window for fecund, with more than a few already landings including Florian Wiltz, Hugo Echicicke, Jeremy Fripon, Milos Kerquez and Giovanni Leoni.

However, Liverpool is dragged into a transfer game between Manchester City and Manchester United, and the Red Devils are said to have dreams of signing a talented star.

Wharton appeared to be completely clear about his feelings by moving to United or one of the other potential suitors during Wednesday’s Crystal Palace training session.

As the Sky Sports cameras were rolling, reporter Gary Cotterill took the opportunity to joke that he wasn’t focusing on Wharton’s future.

And after hearing the quip, the midfielder appeared to adjust his training bib to point to the palace badge.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned newspaper explained that it is also included in the mix for Real Madrid to land Wharton while they were searching for an organizer in the middle of the pitch.

Wharton’s name stands out from the Laliga giants, and One Cap England International is said to be very well liked at Bernabeus Stadium.

The player meets Madrid standards in terms of his age and talent, but his price tag can be a problem as he won’t pick up a phone unless he receives an offer of over £609 million.

The real thing is not going to move to Wharton this summer. Now there is a transfer deadline within two weeks.

And the Spanish club will struggle to convince the palace to quickly win cash, as Eagles boss Oliver Glasner laments his lack of team after his victory at Fredrikstad.
