Former England International Rio Ferdinand revealed his decision to leave the UK. The 46-year-old is set to move to Dubai with his wife Kate and two educated children.
There has been a growing trend for former players to head towards the Middle East over the past few years, and Ferdinand feels that at least three key factors are affecting his ideas when he makes the decision to quickly thrust overseas and head overseas.
Speaking to National News, the former Manchester United skipper revealed that a short trip to Dubai has turned to prospects for living in the country, saying, “There’s no one reason: he won the Global Football Award at Christmas.
“We spent time with a few (partner) Kate’s friends who lived there, and I saw another side to it. I’m in business there. Football runs away. I moved, went back again in February and looked at school just in case.
Ferdinand felt that he was at an ideal spot in life so that his two children could move around the country, and said:
“And while the curriculum is an English curriculum, it’s done differently. Teachers in the UK feel like underrated, low wages. In Dubai, they become important and lifestyle means that they are happy and lively with good energy for children.”
The six Premier League winner then concluded by listing three of the biggest three factors in his thinking in a complete list, adding that he is no longer in England as part of his criticism work. He concluded: “Lifestyle, safety, weather, and a new life. I wanted a new chapter, so I’ve been doing TNT (TV) since I retired for the past 10-11 years. When I made the decision, I thought, “This should be 30 years when my life is driven by fixtures.”
“I haven’t left football, but I’m not the governing body of my life right now. I’m honestly feeling good.”
