Wolves 0-4 Man City: Pep Guardiola’s side laid out eye-catching markers for the rest of the Premier League, as scored by Ehling Haaland, Tijani Leijners and Rayan Cherki

Manchester City Summer Signature Tijjani Reijnders remembered his Premier League debut as he led Pep Guardiola’s men to an inclusive victory vs. Wolves. It was an emotional opportunity for the host, as he paid tribute to former star Diogo Jota.

And Marshall Munetti thought that only the offside flag gave the lead with a strong header to eliminate his efforts. Erling Haaland converted Rico Lewis’ low effort, so he opened the scoring as expected.

And just a few minutes later, City celebrated once more. Tijani Reyjner has honed his fatal counterattack. The stars of both cities were once again at the centre of things as Haaland notched his second one from the Dutch cutback.

Rayan Cherki then joined the act late on a low drive as the city concluded the productive night. Here are all the talk points for Molineux:

Heartwarming tribute from Jota

Shortly before kickoff, fans and players alike had the opportunity to pay homage to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. Many of the forward’s former teammates joined the pitch, including Matt Doherty, Reuben Diaz and Bernardo Silva.

Meanwhile, wolf fans spread out the giant flag of Jota, decorated with the message “I remember you as I walk through the gold fields,” as a song of the same name was played in the stadium. Jota’s family, wife and friend Reuben Neves all attended to pay respects.

In the 18th minute, there was a huge applause at the stadium. He wore the shirt number Jota at the club. It was a very emotional opportunity, and was a worthy of a person and player worshipped in a black country.

Haaland scores again

Without Haaland hit the back of the net, it would not have been the opening of the weekend’s Premier League – and it was a predatory goal as expected from the Norwegian frontman. Reijnders showed excellent footwork to release Lewis to the right.

And in space, the defender whipped a low cross across the face of the goal, which the unmarked Haaland had been hiding for to convert. His goal was for the fourth consecutive season that he scored in the opening fixtures for Man City.

It was also his ninth career goal for wolves. The wolves must be tired of the sight of Haaland. He only scored more against RB Leipzig. What’s worse, he was on the scoresheet again in the second half.

Reijnders shines on his debut

City had a real struggle to deal with Rodri’s absence last season, but it appears they’ve found his replacement at Reijnders. Dutchman gave a huge hit performance in what was his Premier League debut.

Reijnders appeared to cover all the grass blades of the entire game.

He was also a very effective future progression, with his creativity shining in Haaland’s opener, but his own goals were taken really well. He then played a key role in his third role as the city’s third person, with Lewis and Haaland summarizing the great team’s moves.

Ait-Nouri will not receive Nunes treatment

Wolf fans were treated to many familiar faces on the Man City team sheet for the Premier League opener. Matheus Nunes was named on the bench, a Portuguese far from the most popular men in the Midlands.

And as expected, he was booed round when introduced from the bench. However, Rayan Ait-Nouri was not receiving the same treatment.

The Algerian defender left Molineux alone on a £31 million switch in the summer. Like many of his teammates, Ait-Nouri made a very decent debut and has already seen his home in City.

James Trafford is impressed

Over the past few days, we’ve had many questions about the city’s goalkeeping department. Aedason links to his move to Galatasaray, but City clearly monitors Genluigi Donnaruma.

However, James Trafford had the chance to maintain his number one role that doesn’t harm his impressive performance. He showed a good sense of getting out of his goal and mopping up if necessary.

He also produced top denial Munetti and Jacob Strandlersen of excellent saves that were offside. Trafford’s authoritative approach when the ball went into his box also stood out. Overall, it was a great debut.
