Manchester United’s U21 side saw their game at Tamworth being cancelled due to head injuries by Sekou Cone, but the teenagers are stable after undergoing treatment and needing an ambulance
Manchester United have confirmed that Sekou Korn is “conscious, stable and communicating” after leading to a National League Cup match at Tamworth before halftime.
The U21 side was playing for Ramground on Wednesday night, but Korn was seriously injured after a head collision with an enemy in his box. This led Kone to receive treatment for about 15 minutes on the pitch.
The 19-year-old at Mariuse International had to take off the stretcher with a mask on his face. It was then announced that the match had been cancelled.
The game was first stopped before being abandoned completely. Reports suggest that the team originally waited for an alternative ambulance to arrive at the stadium before the reboot took place.
However, United issued a positive update, as he said in the statement. “We can make sure Sekou is conscious and stable and communicates with United’s medical team. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution for further checks. Everyone at the club wants him a quick recovery.”

A statement on Tamworth’s social media accounts stated: “The medical situation has forced us to abandon our equipment for tonight. Details will obviously be made clear. We wish all Man United fans, staff and players a safe trip.
Kone, who joined Marian Club Gidders FC for around £1 million a year ago, was part of a United team that traveled to the US for a preseason tour this summer.
The teenagers were joined by goalkeeper Dermot Mee, with Will Murdoch, defenders Tyler Fredrickson and Aiden Haven, midfielders Toby Coria and Jack Fletcher, as well as Bendito Mantato, Chido Obi and Ethan Williams.
The young midfielder has yet to feature in the competitive fixtures of United’s senior side, but has emerged as an alternative to ASEAN All Stars and Hong Kong.
Korn has been named on the bench by Reuben Amorim in the past – including his Premier League against Tottenham in February and subsequent matches against Everton. United are interested in securing loans for young people to promote his development.
United are moving on to the Premier League season this Sunday against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
