Newcastle United remained determined to remain the striker, denounced Alexander Isaac’s “disappointing” official statement.
The Swedish forward is looking for an exit from St James Park during the summer window, and Liverpool has shown great interest. Isaac did not compete in the club’s preseason tour but trains separately from his teammates, but the Merseyside giants have rejected an offer of £110 million.
The striker escalated his departure efforts on Tuesday in an explosive official statement referring to “a broken promise” from Newcastle leadership.
Magpies are now responding firmly to player statements, making it clear that they will not be forced to sell, regardless of Liverpool’s pursuit or interest from other clubs.
A Newcastle official statement on Tuesday said: “We are disappointed that Alexander Isaac has been warned by a social media post tonight. Alex is making clear that he has signed a contract and that no commitment has been made by club officials who can leave Newcastle United this summer.
“We want to keep the best players, but we understand that players have their own wishes and listen to them. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always consider the greatest interests in every decision of Newcastle United, our team and our supporters.
“We don’t foresee these terms. This is a proud football club with a proud tradition and strives to maintain a family atmosphere. Alex is a part of our family and is welcome when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”
Alexander Isaac has decided to take part in the PFA Awards gala on Tuesday amid a swirling transfer on Tuesday despite winning spots for the teams of the previous season. Instead, he broke his silence about the situation on Instagram.
“I kept quiet for a long time while others were talking,” Isaac posted. “That silence allowed people to push events at the event, even though they knew that they didn’t really reflect what they were told, but they knew they had agreed to it behind a closed room. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.
“Now, behaving as if these issues are emerging is misleading. If the promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot last.
Isak remains on his current contract for three years, but Eddie Howe and Co are already focusing on wolves Jorgenstrandlasen as their successor.
