Federico Chiesa went home at the end of the KOP as the emergent champions gathered to secure a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in the opening night of the season
The emotional Federico Chiesa felt his crucial late goal in Liverpool’s opening night victory over Bournemouth.
On the Anfield night that began with a tribute to Jota and his brother Andre Silva, Chiesa appeared to have come out of the bench and scored his first Premier League goal in the cup end, as the Reds had dumped two points against Cherry.
However, after 14 appearances last season, the Italian, who was turned over by many to leave Anfield this summer by many, fired the volley in the 88th minute, after which Mo Salah concluded his 4-2 victory with additional hours.
“More than anything, at Anfield, it seems like the ball wants to get inside the net when he attacks the KOP in the second half,” said Chiesa, who has remained a favorite of Reds supporters fans despite his regular sings on the KOP and despite the lack of action.

“I would like to think today we also had the help of Diogo and his brothers there.”
Chiesa added that Jota’s memory will stimulate the real-life champion when he bids to protect the crown.
“It was really emotional today. After I scored, my thoughts went to Diogo, Andre to his family who were here today. It was really emotional. The goal was for him,” he added.
“In my opinion, Diogo helped me set this goal somewhere here, and I would like to think that way. He’s always with us and he’ll be with us.
“Today was tough, but there was a great atmosphere. The fans were amazing throughout the game. I’m also really grateful for the songs they’re singing. It’s really, really emotional.”
Reds boss Arne Slot claims that Chiesa still has a future at Anfield despite linking to several Italian clubs.
“As long as he’s here, it’s definitely (his future) in Liverpool and there’s no reason to believe it will change,” Slot said.
“Fans sang for him many times last season, and I’m very happy he gives something in return.”
