Eddie Howe says Newcastle will still replace Callum Wilson, but the possibility of a new arrival before the deadline is now a case of “expectations beyond hope” at St James Park.
Eddie Howe says Newcastle is keen to bring in new faces over the next two weeks, but admits that “hope is more than hope.”
Regardless of Alexander Isaac’s future, Toon is keen to bring in a new striker, as he has not replaced Callum Wilson, who left at the end of his June contract.
And in the second half of the window where most of their rivals are already welcomed with the new NO9, Howe states:
“There aren’t many caliber players to make us better. If potentially available, the prices seem to be rising. We’ll then address other challenges like PSR, the amount spent on the window, and the long-term impact of making a transfer.

“It’s not as clear as going out and getting players. They have to fit the team, make us better and affordable. That’s not a large group of players.”
Newcastle was keen to pursue Benjamin Sesco, Brian Mbemo, Hugo Echicicke and Joa Pedro at the beginning of the summer.
Hau continued: “We are actively looking for the market. We work hard to bring players out of hope rather than expectations.”
Asked on Saturday afternoon if there was any development in Isaac’s situation, Hau added.
“I want a solution. Ownership, all the players we have want that clarity. You don’t need to be distracted. I don’t control it. There’s only one person in control of it.”
Asked if he means Isaac, Hau added: “Alex is in control of what he is doing. I have no control over him.” And in that Isak was fined for not being part of the matchday team, Howe couldn’t be made clear when adding, “Other people are dealing with that issue. I’m focused on the team.”
