The match that day came back to the screen on Saturday evening for the first time since Gary Rynker left the program, but the former England man was not far away.
Gary Reinker made a dramatic U-turn on his claim that he would no longer watch that day’s match, suggesting that he would “not miss it.” The former England striker saw his long spell hosting the BBC programme that ended last season following online controversy.
And the programme was back on screen this weekend with new co-host Mark Chapman holding the reins. Despite Lineker’s controversial exit, he made his feelings about the BBC program very clear.
He shared a video of the match for the day’s opening title on his Instagram story along with the caption. Lineker praise comes shortly after suggesting that it rarely tunes into the program on Saturday night.
Looking for his thoughts on the new presentation team, including Chapman, Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan, Lineker said:
“I’ll see it, but I don’t think I’ll be watching it on the iPlayer… on Saturday. Maybe it’s a weird time if I’m there.”

With the tuning, Lineker would have been smiling with a smile as his alternative Chapman kicked off the program with a joke at the expense of his predecessor. He states: “The Premier League is back and the game of the day is back.
“You may have heard of the big changes in the show this season, and that’s how Wayne Rooney has joined us as a regular critic, but some things remain the same.
Elsewhere, Cates suggests that Linekers have not yet been in touch prior to their respective debuts, but she has not sought his advice. She said: “He’s not in touch and I’m not in touch with him, but we’re not avoiding each other. We just don’t know each other. I know that Gary will greet us, we just don’t know each other very well.

“And I think Shepper said Gary said, he’s very nice at work and he was a controversial character, so he’s very nice.
“So, from my point of view, the reason not to do that is, I don’t want to be Gary. I think there’s the temptation to be someone else, and I think you get a job for yourself.
“I don’t need to think about something else. “What will Gary do? That’s not a decision. It just doesn’t have anything to do with us.”
