Crystal Palace star Ebekieze had a stunning free kick that was ruled out against Chelsea on Sunday, and Roy Keene now shares his thoughts on the incident
Roy Keene argued that Mark Guech would only blame Ebebeki Eze’s unauthorized goal vs. Chelsea. The English star thought Crystal Palace had given the lead at Stamford Bridge on Sunday as he fired a stunning free kick into the house, but umpire Darren England was sent to Val Monitor in the celebration and was choked out of the goal as he got too close to Chelsea’s defensive wall.
After making the decision, he said: “After reviews, when the shot is taken, it’s less than a metre from the wall. So it’s an indirect free kick and an unauthorized goal.”
And seeing the controversial case unfold, Manchester United icon Keene believes players need to see the law and more goals being ruled out, and they need to recognize the risks. Speaking about Sky Sports, he said: “The attacking team needs to recognize this rule now. The players there are always blocking and knowing it’s annoying. Gaehi is annoying and almost goes too far in pushing players in.

Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton believed the decision was correct in the legal letter – although that’s not true. He said: “Sometimes you ask soccer where you ask if something is right or wrong.
Steve Sidwell also shared his feelings and argued that given the rules came into effect at Stamford Bridge, there must be a consistent look throughout the Premier League. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he said:
After the match, Palace defender Chris Richards said: “Everyone in the stadium thought it was a goal, but you’ll live and die by Val, and you’ve died since today.

The Palace will be active this Thursday with or without Eze as they will face Fredrikstad free-kicks in the first leg of the Europa Conference League qualifying round.
He said: “EB was supposed to score a goal today, he had it and it wasn’t allowed. He will come to Crystal Palace training ground tomorrow, Tuesday, we hope he will play for Fredrikstad and us for us.”
