It was an afternoon of frustration as Chelsea was held in a goalless draw by Crystal Palace. Enzo Maresca’s side ruled the second half, but was unable to find a way with the stubborn visitors.
The Italian cut out the frustrated figure in the second half. However, the hosts also appreciated the VAR check after Ebeleti Eze’s free kick was ruled out. That means they dropped a key point for the Blues, which is only one game in the Premier League season.

Robert Sanchez 5: How long will Enzo Maresca last with his No. 1? We were extremely fortunate early on when Eberechi Eze tried his luck from long distances, and when the same player allowed a free-kick goal. The distribution is poor and continues to persuade.
Reese James 6: We especially saw the pace in the first half. He fouled Eze on a mithtim tackle but had already booked it when he stayed on the field.
Josh Acheampong 9: Statement from a teenager. He did one excellent sliding challenge to deny Daniel Munoz and seemed certain when he dribbled the ball from defense. Chelsea found a star.
Trevoh Chalobah 6: He fuzzed his line from 8 yards, spurting his chances in the first half. It’s solid enough at the back, but depending on the Achairpon, it’s on top.
Marc Cucurella 5: Offered himself in the attack, but as usual, unstable. As he throws in, for a moment he chucks the ball straight out of the play for a goal kick.
Enzo Fernandez 6: I tried to get on the ball but couldn’t make the right influence. I was frustrated when I took off before the last whi.
Moises Caiceco 8: I picked it up from what I left off since last season. We cut off many palace attacks and advanced. One surge in second half was stopped by a cynical foul by Wilhughes.
Pedro Neto 5: We struggled with impact, got a terrible mistake in the header from 6 yards, and the goal rang out.
Cole Palmer 6: Most of his work did not show the same quality of the ball as before, but from Deep, not from the danger zone. Wasted one free kick chance and fired straight into the wall.
Jamie Gittens 6: Started well, showing a flash of threat in the bottom right, and his cross led to Charoba’s chance. However, it faded after halftime and was replaced before time.
Joao Pedro 7: He was full of energy, and he moved well. He also showed his skill in the air, but was closely monitored by Mark Guech and never got the clear opportunity he needed.

Estavao (Gittens, 54) 6: Replaced Gittens with a huge applause and immediately shocked them with Mazy Run. However, despite suggesting he would become a star at Stamford Bridge, he blew two golden opportunities.
Liam Delap (Joao Pedro, for 73) 6: It gave him a presence after coming, but when he had a clear shooting opportunity it was straight out with Dean Henderson.
Malo Gusto (Reece James, 79) 6: The strange defensive change when Chelsea pushed and he made little addition in the future.
Andrey Santos (for Enzo Fernandez, 79) 6: Throws recently, but with some nice touches at the bar, not much of an impact.
