The opening game for the new Premier League season between Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth stopped in the first half after reporting he was the subject of racist abuse. Judge Anthony Taylor was informed of the incident 30 minutes later and discussed it with many individuals before it resumed.

Officials then spoke at length on both Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola, discussing what Semenyo had informed him. The talk continued for a while, with many players from both teams heading towards the touchline to discuss the stoppage.

Club captains Virgil van Dik and Adam Smith were spoken about the suspension, and the referee exchanged short words with Semeño. Before Anfield Tanoy announced “Operation Unfield Exercise,” many fingers were pointed towards a group of fans sitting near the touchline.

Both teams then returned to the pitch and played quickly resumed. The Sky Sports camera shows several players who comforted Semeño. Play resumed and Hugo Ekitique opened up a score just a few moments later.

Speaking about the incident, Gary Neville told Sky Sports:

“I can’t even start thinking about what’s going to happen through someone else’s mind, but it happens, it keeps happening, and it’s a shame.”

Asked about the importance of players stepping up and reporting an incident, Jamie Carrager added:

“It’s a shocking incident, it’s such a case. He has long throws on both sides. Even if it went through it, I saw a fan at that stage that really close to him, but there was a shocking incident and it was justified in the judge.”
