Peter Crouch decides to whip his brand new Aston Martin in 2005 after accidentally meeting Manchester United legend Roy Keene at a traffic light
Peter Crouch recalls the embarrassing incident involving Roy Keene, which led to him losing £25,000 on the sale of his new car.
Crouch was at the top of the world in 2005 when he traded Southampton for Liverpool on a £7 million transfer.
He decides to celebrate the upward trajectory of footballers in the typical way by splattering over expensive cars. Crouch bought an Aston Martin and spins it, saying he was very pleased with him.
It was when everything changed and he quickly sold it for a loss of about £25,000. “I bought an Aston Martin while I was playing for Liverpool,” he said on the Therapy Crouch Podcast. “I got to the UK team and I thought, ‘Yeah, I made it, I’ll get an Aston Martin, I deserve it.’

“But I knew I looked like an ***. Then I was driving. I remember Roy Keene seeing it on the lights. He gave me a ‘advertising******’ look.
“And he was looking at me like s***, and I literally look like I sold my car that week.
Keene’s withering expression was legendary, and his disapproval of the young players who acted on top of their station helped him dominate the Manchester United dressing room. The Irish reputation was so high that it was Liverpool’s bitter rivals.
“I’ve never felt small in my life,” Crouch said in 2020.
He actually filmed 19 games in a Liverpool shirt before he scored his first goal for the club. However, he scored 42 goals in 135 games for the club to go with 23 assists.
Crouch won the FA Cup in his first season at Merseyside, but it was his only major silverware piece in his three years, running the runner-up in the 2006/07 Champions League.
