UDIEN, Italy (AP) – UEFA deployed a banner on Wednesday with the message “Stop killing children, stop killing civilians.”
It was laid out in front of the team before kicking off in a match at Studio Friuli in Udin, Italy.
“The message is loud and clear,” the European football governing body said in a post on X. “Banner. Phone.”
A day after the UEFA Foundation for Children unveiled its latest initiative to support war-affected children in various parts of the world, it partners with Medecins du Monde, Medecins Sans Frontières and Handicap International.
They are charities that “provide important humanitarian support to children in Gaza,” UEFA said in a press release Tuesday.
UEFA supports projects on children affected in conflict zones in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Ukraine.
