Arsenal 2-3 Villa Real Victor Gyoker has started for the first time in Arsenal Colour as Gunners prepare for a new season, home friendly and home friendly against Villa Real
Arsenal continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 defeat against Villa Reale, but optimism had several reasons. The match brought Viktor Gyoker’s first gunner start after a big move from the Sporting CP, but the striker was unable to mark the opportunity in goal.
Nicholas Pepe has returned to haunt his previous club. Bukayo Saka threatened the quick leveler and forced a low save from goalkeeper Luiz’s junior after cutting the inside, but Eyong doubled the visitor’s lead when he followed up after a save from Big David Raya.
Christian Norgaard regained one for the gunners, but it was Villarreal who led the break. Mikel Arteta changed things with a break. Norgaard made a way for Martin Zubimendi and fellow new boy Cristhian Mosquera to come for Ben White.
A gust of further changes appears to disrupt Arsenal’s momentum, and Arnaut Danjuma has recovered the two-goal advantage of the visitors. Martin Odegaard reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, but Arsenal couldn’t find a third – Douman continues to threaten him with an impressive preseason.
Despite the outcome, there was a full-time penalty shootout, and Arsenal also lost it after Noni Madueke’s efforts were saved. Gunner became one more friendly before launching a Premier League campaign with Manchester United eight days later.

1. Gyoker is still in gear
After a brief runout from the bench against Tottenham, Gyoker had the opportunity to show what he could do from Get-go. The Swedes showed the flash but have to wait to open his account for his new club.
There was half a chance in the first 15 minutes, but Gyoker failed to bring the ball under his spell when a cross came in from the right. The gunners were clearly keen to attack the flanks early, with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka poses an obvious threat.
He found the right sight of the goal around time, forcing a smart save from Lewis junior with a strong effort from the edge of the six-yard box. But that was his last chance, but his night ended after an hour.
2. Pepe scores on return
There are quite a few Arsenal fans hoping Gyoker will have a greater impact than the big money of his fellow signing Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian winger cost over £700 million from the reel in 2019, but eventually left nothing and is now in Villarreal’s book.
He looked up at the game. Perhaps you want to show your old employers what they lack. There was even a muted celebration after he helped the ball get into the home net early on.
A little later, the more annoyed side of Pepe was on display as he tried to run at Miles Lewis Skelly, but was often seen by young people. Despite that early goal, Lewis Skelly has made the direct duel between the pair better, but Pepe will certainly choke it up as a personal victory after finding the net.
3. NorgaardUp and Running
Gyokeres wasn’t just the new Arsenal boys who started the match. Christian Norgaard’s arrival had a little less fanfare, but he nodded along with Mikel Merino.
The Danish midfielder had not been signed to the threat of his goal, but he had not complained. Just a few minutes after Villarreal was second, Norgaard arrived late and headed back to Martinelli’s corner at the back post.
Martinelli should take equal trust in his deep delivery. The debate about Probeads in the Gunners set works has yet to disappear.
4. Kiwiol has been caught
When Gabriel returned to full fitness, Jakub Kiwiall partnered with William Saliba in the back. And he didn’t have the most proud moment for the opener.
The Polish defenders appeared to use his power to curb the threat of Aion and Pepe as the gunners failed to clear their line. However, easier clearances can be a better option.
That wasn’t very good as former Spurs star Danjuma concluded a fast backlash after Gabriel’s arrival. Arteta hopes that is when it comes to gaining sloppy defenses from their system.
5. Nuwaneri sends a reminder so that Douman shines again
Ethan Nuwaneri’s Arsenal minutes, which play a largely offensive role, began on Wednesday at a deep anchorage. Young people essentially filled the roles that Martin Odegard normally occupied. He showed enough ball to suggest that he could do the same against a particular Premier League opponent.
That’s not always the right play. It could potentially be utilized by more physical teams. However, his ball carry from deep gives the gunner another option.
A fellow young man Max Douman also got a few more minutes. He didn’t spend much time drawing the foul that Odegard won for Arsenal’s second evening.
