Alan Shearer’s daughter Holly marries England rugby player Joe Merchant
Alan Shearer had to rush home from the World Cup to see his daughter Holly marry her rugby partner. The former Newcastle star’s second-oldest child married England star Joe Marchant at Winchester.
The two got engaged in November 2024 after dating for two years. Later, Marchand signed with Stade Français, and Holly moved to France with her mistress.
Shearer was co-commentary for last weekend’s World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. He soon returned to England and attended the celebrations at the Royal Oak in Winchester.
The wedding party enjoyed the celebration at the Royal Oak Pub, built in 1002.

The Premier League’s all-time goalscorer shared a photo of Holly and Joe as a couple. One photo showed the bride smiling as she held up her ring while her partner signed the paperwork to formalize the marriage.
Another photo, first posted by Shearer’s other daughter Chloe, showed the newlyweds saying “I do” and dancing together.
Earlier this year, Holly hinted at her upcoming wedding by posting pictures of her hens on Instagram. At the time, the bride wore a white cut-out dress and bikini as she prepared to marry the rugby star.
The outfit choice that stood out to her Instagram followers was a see-through skirt with “Mrs. Merchant” printed on the back. With their marriage confirmed, the loved-up pair will set off on their honeymoon as Shearer prepares for the next season of the Premier League as a fan-favorite pundit.
