Manchester United 6 days left to complete £51m transfer on ‘agreed personal terms’ | Soccer | Sports

Manchester United have just six days to complete the deal for Roma midfielder Manu Kone, according to reports. The Red Devils have already brought in two new players to boost their midfield ranks, which was a top priority for Michael Carrick heading into the summer.

Andrei Santos is United’s first summer signing, having joined from Chelsea earlier this month in a deal worth around £50 million. He was soon joined by Youri Tielemans, who joined the club from Aston Villa in a £35m deal. Despite these signings, United are still thought to be looking for a new midfielder to replace Casemiro when his contract expires.

Cone could fit into that mold, given his use as a box-to-box midfielder and also being comfortable playing in a deeper role.

He had a fantastic World Cup with France and his achievements have reportedly attracted United’s interest ahead of the new Premier League season.

Although personal terms have already been agreed, a transfer fee has not yet been set and it is claimed it could be just a matter of days before Roma are no longer open to negotiations.

According to Corriere dello Sport, this is because they hope to conclude the contract by August, according to the terms of the financial settlement agreement with UEFA.

Roma have given United a six-day deadline to “meet the terms of the settlement”, which expires at the end of this month.

Under the terms of the settlement, the Italian giants will reportedly have to sell one of their star players to comply with financial regulations and avoid a hefty fine.

Miles Svilar and Evan Ndicka have been mentioned as possible departures, but it appears Roma are willing to let Kone leave.

However, it remains to be seen whether United will be able to successfully negotiate a transfer fee before the deadline expires.

The report claims Roma value the midfielder at around £51m, but adds that the Red Devils are hoping to sign him for around £43m.

Roma is said to be frustrated behind the scenes as the sale of connections will bring in much-needed funds.

United have also been linked with a possible move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Choameny, who played alongside Kone at the World Cup.
