Exclusive: Marcus Rashford’s future is up in the air after Barcelona failed to sign the forward permanently, but he could still be offered a lifeline at Manchester United

Manchester United bosses have invited Marcus Rashford to appear in a documentary about the club, suggesting they are prepared to make a stunning U-turn and keep the outcast at Old Trafford.
Rashford has not kicked a ball in anger at United since December 2024. The Red Devils are expected to sell him to the highest bidder, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe keen to release him from the payroll.
But it has emerged United bosses have asked Rashford if he would like to star in a fly-on-the-wall film the club has agreed with Amazon in a multi-million pound deal.
Rashford is understood to be contemplating his next move and has not made a decision. However, the invitation suggests United could go into the new season with Rashford in their plans.
Rashford fell out with former manager Ruben Amorim after revealing he wanted to leave his hometown club, and was loaned to Aston Villa and then Barcelona last season.
Barcelona rejected an option to make the move permanent in a £24m deal. This means Rashford will return to United after the summer break, following his appearance at the World Cup with England.
His future remains unclear, with several clubs considering a move for the 28-year-old forward.

The cameras have started rolling on All or Nothing – Manchester United as part of Michael Carrick’s squad return to pre-season training. And I plan to continue doing that until the end of next season.
Amazon wanted to do the same project last season, but then-manager Amorim refused to cooperate.
United claim the documentary is “in line with the club’s desire to be as open and transparent as possible” with the club’s billions of supporters around the world.
The film promises to give viewers unprecedented access to the inner sanctum of the Old Trafford changing rooms and Carrington training facility.
