Wolves striker Tor Alokodare has spoken out following allegations that he refused to leave the Championship team’s training ground following a disagreement with new manager Cesar Peixoto.

Wolves star Tolu Alokodea has refused to leave the club’s training ground and slammed reports that he has been forced to halt his pre-season preparations. It has been suggested that the Nigerian frontman refused to leave the pitch after being told to do so.

He was reportedly asked not to practice with the rest of the team. More security was deployed the next day to prevent him from entering.

Arokodare, 25, has now spoken out and claimed he actually did nothing wrong but just wanted to train.

“I was very surprised and disappointed to see today’s media reports, much of which are inaccurate. Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in acting professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.”

“I have always tried to be as ready as possible to contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.

“I remain under contract with Wolves and my only intention is to fulfill my professional responsibilities by training according to my contract, doing my job and contributing to the team.”

Alokodea joined Wolves last summer from Belgian side Genk for a fee of £23.4 million. However, he struggled to adapt to the demands of Premier League football, scoring just three goals in 33 appearances, as the club were eliminated in the Championship.

Wolves played Maidenhead in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, but Alokodare was not involved in any role. His future is currently up in the air, with a number of clubs already showing interest in signing him.

Fiorentina were initially interested, but were forced to abandon the move after they used up all of their allocated non-EU quotas. As a result, Serie A rivals Genoa have shown an interest in the forward, with Dutch giants Ajax also keeping an eye on developments.

Wolves have already said goodbye to a number of their first-team stars ahead of their first season back in the Championship. Joao Gomez completed his £35m move to Aston Villa last week, while Matt Doherty left for second division rivals Sheffield United.

Wolves also made several signings, with Raul Jimenez and Ladislav Kureishi returning to the club, while Rafiki Said and Kieran Trippier also signed for the Black Country side.
