Liverpool have added Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Muñoz to their squad, but manager Andoni Iraola has made it clear the club still needs to add another winger before the new season.

Manager Andoni Iraola has stressed Liverpool’s need to sign a new winger ahead of the new Premier League season following the departure of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds talisman confirmed in March that he would leave Anfield a year early and looks set to complete a move to Turkish side Besiktas.

Liverpool have traded for Jeremy Jacquet and winger Victor Munoz, but are yet to agree a senior player to replace Salah, who scored 257 goals during his nine-year stay on Merseyside.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but the club moved to sign the impressive Yann Diomand at the start of the summer, only for PSG to emerge as the attacker’s preferred destination.

Iraola admitted that Liverpool are looking for a new winger, and pointed out that wide attack is definitely one area they need to strengthen.

“I think it’s difficult to say a number (on the number of players joining). When the market is open, you always have to be open to new options to strengthen the squad,” Iraola said from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.

“There are obviously situations where we need to sign players, for example wingers and we definitely need to sign wingers, but there are also situations where we have to analyze what the market will give, what the costs are and how we look at the players we have.

“It will depend on a lot of things, as players we trust are injured and there are some positions that are difficult, but it’s not an ideal situation yet.”

Diomande’s preference is to move to PSG, but progress on a deal to bring the Ivorian star to Paris has been delayed.

If Diomande ends up swapping PSG for RB Leipzig, the move could open the door for Barcora’s departure. He has been praised by both the Reds and Arsenal, who also want to level up their attacking options on the left.

The Premier League champions are forced back into the market after failing to sign preferred transfer target Morgan Rodgers, who completed his £117m move to Chelsea on Tuesday.
