Ahead of the new Premier League season, a number of Manchester United fans have been threatened with their season tickets at Old Trafford being revoked.
Several Manchester United fans have been warned they risk having their season tickets at Old Trafford revoked for allegedly breaching the club’s ticketing regulations. On Tuesday, many supporters were sent an email informing them that their accounts had been suspended.
The club said in the letter that it had “identified ongoing activity” related to the specific profile in question. To address this issue, the email asks affected fans to respond with a comprehensive list of all devices they typically use to log into their accounts.
United Airlines asked to see if any of these devices were also used to access other ticketing accounts or if the accounts were accessed regularly from multiple locations. They were also asked for detailed instructions on how to access and manage their accounts and to provide a valid photo ID.
Our sister title Manchester Evening News reports that after consulting with a number of affected supporters, they maintain their innocence. They have also collectively criticized the club’s communication for being unclear.
One of the fans involved in the situation has been a season ticket holder for 27 years, and the club confirmed that restrictions on their account will continue. Another supporter who has supported United at home and away, and who has regularly complied with ID checks at away matches, now faces the realistic prospect of losing his ticket.
One supporter was told that restrictions on his account would remain due to the “balance of the evidence available”, but believes the club has not provided any concrete evidence of wrongdoing.
From discussions with supporters, it appears United have adopted an all-hands-on-deck approach to addressing concerns about touts, meaning innocent fans are now caught in the crossfire and facing losing their season tickets. United could not confirm how the affected supporters were flagged by the system.

Some fans who received the first email had their restrictions lifted, while others are still stuck. United believe they have little choice but to tackle their widespread touting problem, although they admit their approach could lead to some innocent supporters being drawn into the mix. However, club officials pointed out that fans responded and restored their accounts.
The club has not yet received any responses from some fans after the initial email blast, which it says may be an indication of toutism. Nevertheless, all supporters who contacted this outlet strongly denied any wrongdoing, and all submitted thorough responses to the club, none of which were accepted.

United Airlines said it was prepared to investigate the incident more thoroughly. The club also told fans in an email: “To ensure fairness and transparency, we have worked with our fan forums to establish a robust appeals process.
“Appeals are reviewed by an independent appeals committee, assisted by senior management representatives, to ensure that each case is reviewed objectively and fairly.
“If you would like to appeal this decision, please email appails.panel@manutd.co.uk and provide as much relevant information as possible. If you do not contact us by 19 July 2026, your season ticket will be cancelled.”
