Jordan Henderson hasn’t given up on his World Cup dreams with England
Morgan Rogers and Dan Byrne have sensationally claimed that Jordan Henderson’s World Cup is not officially over yet.
The 36-year-old midfielder, who underwent successful surgery in Kansas City after fracturing his arm, is incredibly aiming to return to help England before the end of the tournament.
It certainly seems like a long shot, but Rodgers and Byrne, who spoke to the media at the Three Lions’ media bunker in Kansas City on Wednesday, seemed to suggest that Henderson is still in the game, with a shoutout playing with the cast.
Asked about the Brentford midfielder’s decision to return to camp, Rodgers said: “It just shows what kind of person he is as a person and as a man. Hopefully he’ll be involved with us for the rest of the tournament.”
“He’s not going to exclude himself either way. His belief in his body, his abilities, his confidence and who he is and what he represents as a person is huge for our group and he’s really everything. He’s the heartbeat of the group.”
“Despite what has happened in the last 48 hours, to see him smiling this morning and as happy as ever, it’s great for us just to see him and we hope to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, defender Byrne claims he felt guilty for inadvertently playing a small role in the ordeal.

Recounting the shocking incident, Byrne explained: “Well, I think I kind of killed him because he made it look easy when he jumped over him. He was like a kid to me!”
“Yeah, I heard a noise right behind me, and with Hendo, you know there’s something wrong if he doesn’t get up.
“Yeah, I was disappointed for him because I think he was so excited on the pitch and I think that shows what kind of person he is. He wasn’t on the pitch but he was still excited in front of everyone.”
“He has already finished the surgery and I hope they still have him ready to play in the tournament.
“I know he’s going to do everything he can to be with the players and support them. I’m happy to have him back in Kansas because I think it’s been a long few days.”
