Bieber will be one of the main characters at the tournament finale, performing alongside Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay and others who participated in the halftime extravaganza on July 19th. The star-studded performance, scheduled for 11 minutes between World Cup finals, will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. However, viewers watching the match on the BBC will likely miss the match.
The Times says the BBC intends to maintain its traditional broadcast structure of pre-match discussion, first-half action, half-time reviews and then second half, rather than switching to an entertainment spectacle. ITV is thought to be taking a similar approach.
All funds raised from the interval performance will go directly to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise £74.5 million ($100 million) to expand access to quality education and football to young people around the world.
The fund has already secured more than £37.4 million ($50 million) and continues to grow, with $1 for every ticket sold for a 2026 FIFA World Cup match going towards the tournament as a whole.
Bieber, who was uniquely selected for this privilege, said in a statement: “The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way that nothing else can. I’m grateful to be a part of this halftime show, and even more grateful to know that we’re already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”
Following the announcement on Instagram, supporters flooded the comments section with enthusiasm in anticipation of his upcoming appearance. One fan wrote, “That’s right! Do your thing, bro!” Another fan added, “YESSSSSSS MY FAV CAN’T WAIT,” while a third wrote, “Thank you Lord Jesus Christ. Announcing the tour now.”
The revelation came after Bieber attended the World Cup opening ceremony, with the artist keeping a close eye on this year’s competition. Beyond participating in this year’s extravaganza, he recently took to Instagram to show his support for his native Canada.
The Baby singer shared an image of the team’s emblem and wrote, “Sending love and prayers to Team Canada. Now playing #fifaworldcup2026.”
This will be Bieber’s first time on stage since his performance at Coachella. The star has previously withdrawn from the rigors of touring due to past health issues, including Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. His most recent major concert tour was the Justice World Tour in 2022.
