England qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals with a dramatic and tense 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico. They will face Norway for a place in the final four.

After a tense opening half-hour, England took the lead when Jude Bellingham headed home Bukayo Saka’s cross. Things turned around for Thomas Tuchel’s side just two minutes later when Anthony Gordon won the ball high and Harry Kane set his teammate on goal, followed by Bellingham’s second goal of the game seconds later.

In a dramatic few minutes, Mexico halved the lead before half-time when Julian Quiñones scored from a set-piece. England were then under pressure but were grateful to Jordan Pickford for taking the lead.

In the second half, things changed even more dramatically. Following a VAR review, right-back Jarrell Quansah was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge.

But minutes later Harry Kane made a mistake from the penalty spot after Anthony Gordon was fouled in the box, making it 3-1 for England 10-a-side.

Mexico were awarded their own penalty after another VAR review, cutting the deficit in half once again. Raul Jimenez overtook Pickford to make it 3-2, creating a tense finale.

England, who defeated Mexico, will face Norway in the quarter-finals. Erling Haaland’s brace helped his team beat five-time champions Brazil 2-1 in the round of 16.

The game will take place on Saturday, July 11th at 10pm.

If Norway wins, they will face Switzerland, Colombia, Argentina or Egypt in the semi-finals on Wednesday, July 15 (8pm).

The four teams will play their Round of 16 matches on Wednesday.

If England reach the final, they will face France, Morocco, the United States, Belgium or Spain. The game will take place on Sunday, July 19th at 8:00 p.m.
