This will go down as England’s greatest victory on foreign soil.

It was a night for heroes such as Jude Bellingham, Jordan Pickford, Harry Kane and Anthony Gordon. It was a night where everything came together.

However, what sets this work apart from other works is its background and setting. It also means England qualify for the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the third year in a row, with the promise of even better days ahead.

England faced co-hosts Mexico, who had the whole country on their side and nearly all of the 80,284 fans in the stadium. They had to play at 7,200 feet above sea level as rabid Mexican fans nearly sucked the ball into the net.

Mexico has an incredible record at home, losing just three games this century, but they also have some of the best fans in the business. They are loud, passionate, and really root for their team, which makes them very hostile to opponents.

The home fans were loud, passionate and brought joy throughout this tournament. The stadium shook as they stomped their feet.

England’s four games without conceding at the World Cup showed the magnitude of the task.

England clearly won the 1966 World Cup, but it was at Wembley, which in itself is probably no coincidence. Home advantage is huge.

Jude Bellingham was England's hero as the Three Lions booked their place in the quarter-finals.

Yes, England did well last summer, enough to reach the World Cup semi-finals in Russia and the Euro finals in Germany. However, there was no such match in either tournament. That was not the case when Jarrell Quansah was sent off and England were reduced to 10 men.

In addition to the weather, climate, altitude, and other factors, the most important factor was that England were playing as a nation.

It’s just amazing to play against our co-hosts in our own stadium. They had to show such a great mentality. And the incredible resilience of so many heroes makes that accomplishment even better.

England may now realize that their performance in this match can help them overcome everything and go all the way.

The one-hour delay in kickoff time also affected preparations for the Ore game. The stadium was very full and England had been playing since 2am, but the fans were cheering for the team.

England overcame bad weather and co-hosts in the early hours of Monday morning.

England overcame bad weather and co-hosts in the early hours of Monday morning.

England achieved a stunning victory by defeating Germany 5-1 in Munich. Paul Ince’s heroic actions in Rome to secure coverage of the World Cup. England performed well against Croatia at Euro 2004.

But this performance had it all. The odds against England were quite high, the crowd was raucous, and the opposition they expected would be difficult.

This was truly heroic because they risked their lives and really accepted the pressure, the situation, the freedom. England led 2-1 and had to pull back at 3-2. They all ran and ran. No mean feat given the overwhelming air pollution and altitude.

Tell us what you think… Where does England v Mexico’s win rank among the greatest away wins of all time?

All of this will affect the magnitude of England’s achievements and their ranking. I’ve been covering England for over 26 years and this was the most entertaining game I’ve ever seen.

But it was also the most courageous and heroic on many levels, considering they defeated Mexico in their own backyard.

Yes, England won in ’66. Yes, there were some big wins a few years back and even since. But in a foreign land, this was the best thing I’ve had the pleasure of seeing.
