Jude Bellingham scored two first-half goals as England defeated Mexico 3-2 at the Estadio Azteca on Monday to propel Thomas Tuchel’s side into the World Cup quarter-finals.
Jude Bellingham claims England’s desire to make the country proud is fueling their World Cup dreams. The attacking midfielder, who scored two goals for Thomas Tuchel, one of the star players of this tournament, was once again a trump card in Mexico, and his two goals gave the entire nation a dream.
Bellingham felt a sense of unity and togetherness among them, explaining: “No, I’ve never been more proud. I’ve never been more proud of a group of players, a team, a country. That was a country performance. Everything I saw this week is that the country is behind us.”
“All we talked about this week was how difficult it is to play against such a good team in such an unbelievable atmosphere, so to get this win was definitely the best night of my England career.”
A storm caused an hour delay, forcing returning fans to ask for more drinks to wind down. Bellingham were really happy to repay their faith and feel their supporters have earned the right to enjoy some rest after another rollercoaster ride, this time at the historic Aztecs.

He continued: “Send a message to your boss and tell them you won’t be participating. It’s that simple.
“I’ve been an England fan since I was seven years old and the 2010 World Cup was my first World Cup. We’ve had some good moments recently, but I remember watching some of the tournaments and hearing some of the players on TV now talking about it. They were struggling on nights like this because we couldn’t get behind them.”
“There wasn’t much of a reason to be part of an England team that gives so much to the country, or to have a night like this. It means as much to me as anything else in my career and life. If you go back to the changing room and check your phone, there will be lots of videos.
“Kids are off school and parents are enjoying the day without going to work. Nights like this are rare so let’s go to the pub with friends again.”

Still only 23, the Real Madrid maestro has accepted his role as an essential leader under Tuchel. Only Harry Kane (six), Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi (seven) have scored more goals at this World Cup.
Now he wants his teammates, other than Kane, to follow in his footsteps, explaining: “I am aware of the responsibility and pressure that I carry with the other players. Each player has different responsibilities within their role, but I know what I can offer on the pitch.”
“I know what I can offer the team, make no mistake. There are 26 players who can do exactly what I did tonight. I’m convinced of this and I hope nights like this give them confidence.”
“We have top players. You shouldn’t wait 40 or 50 minutes to realize that we are a very good team. I hope this team instills this belief in the team, because they deserve to feel that way about themselves.”
